Petros Emmanouilidis is an ophthalmic surgeon trained both in Greece and the UK. He has completed his medical studies in Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki where he was admitted after being successful in the National Higher Education Entrance Examination - year 1997. During his post-graduation years he has completed his service as general practicioner in Corfu General Hospital and in rural areas of north Corfu (Sokraki, Zygos, Spartilas, Kassiopi, Peritheia, Loutses) while covering on-calls in the Medical Center of Agios Markos.
He then received training in Ophthalmology in AHEPA University Hospital of Thessaloniki and he acquired his certificate of completion of training in Ophthalmology in January 2012. During his last year of training in Ophthalmology he passed the exams of the European Board of Ophthalmology(EBO).
During 2012 he has spent time in India where he took part in charity programs for restoration of vision and he offered his surgical skills by completing a significant number of cataract operations.
He was then offered a job as a clinical fellow in the University Hospital of Epsom and St. Helier(South London) where he worked for 2 years with the team of brilliant colleagues of all sub-specialties in ophthalmology(pediatric ophthalmology, medical and surgical retina, cornea, oculoplastics and cataract).
During the third year of his UK training, after a successful interview, he was selected for a post-CCT fellowship in oculoplastic surgery in Queen's Hospital in London, where he trained next to the world-renown oculoplastic surgeon, Sabrina Shah-Desai.
He then continued his training in eyelid and cataract surgery in Northampton General Hospital next to the brilliant oculoplastic and cataract surgeon,Mr. Tristan McMullan.
He has also completed a series of surgical courses in cosmetic eyelid surgery and also observed the surgical work of renown ophthalmic surgeons of the UK(Mr. Naresh Joshi, Mr. Ragavan Sampath, Mr. Harpreet Ahluwalia).
Petros Emmanouilidis is a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society and member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
He operates at OMMA ophthalmic center in Athens, at Ophthalmica Eye Clinic in Thessaloniki, and at the Ophthalmology Center of Epirus at Ioannina.
